About Khatib
"Khatib" comes from Arabic and refers to the person who gives the sermon at Friday and Eid prayers. In the early 20th century the area was pineapple, rubber and gambier plantations owned by Lim Nee Soon.
Khatib MRT was planned as "Nee Soon South" and renamed in January 1987 after Sungei Khatib Bongsu and Khatib Camp. It now serves the HDB estates of southern Yishun.
