About Nee Soon
Nee Soon Village grew from Chan Chu Kang, a mid-19th-century kangchu (headman) settlement along Sungei Seletar. It was renamed in 1930 after Lim Nee Soon, and Nee Soon Road was named in 1950.
By the 1960s and 1970s the village was a small town of its own, with a post office, police station, schools, clinics and workshops, supported by trade from Nee Soon Camp.
Resettlement for Yishun New Town began in 1977 and the village was cleared by the early 1990s. The refurbished Nee Soon Post Office building and shophouses along Thong Bee Road and Chong Kuo Road still remain.
