Marble Stain Repair & Removal in Yishun

Marble is porous, so spills can soak in and leave dark or coloured stains. Mopping only cleans the surface. We draw stains out from inside the stone with poultices matched to the type of stain, then re-polish the area so it matches the rest of the floor or top.

Stain or etch? Check before you scrub

A stain is darker or coloured than the marble around it, because something soaked in. An etch is a dull, lighter mark, because acid dissolved the surface. Scrubbing a stain with acid cleaner turns it into a stain and an etch. If you are unsure, send us a photo in daylight.

Common stains in Yishun homes

Cooking oil near the kitchen, rust under shoe racks and potted plants, hair dye and cosmetics in bathrooms, and coffee or tea near the dining table. Most come out with the right poultice. Very old rust stains may only lighten.

Our process

  1. Identify the stain. Oil, organic, rust and dye stains need different chemistry.
  2. Test on a small spot.
  3. Apply poultice and leave it to draw the stain out (often overnight).
  4. Repeat if the stain is deep.
  5. Polish the area to blend in, and seal if suitable.

Usually 1 to 2 visits; deep stains may need a poultice left overnight

Before we arrive

  • Clear small items, rugs and fragile decor from the area.
  • Let us know about any loose, hollow or cracked tiles you have noticed.
  • Arrange contractor registration with your condo management office if needed.
  • Keep pets and young children away from the work area.

Aftercare

Wipe spills quickly, use coasters and pot saucers, and keep metal items off the floor in wet areas. A sealer slows staining but does not make marble stain-proof.

Frequently asked questions

Can all marble stains be removed?

Most can be removed or greatly lightened. Very old rust and some dye stains may not disappear completely; we will tell you honestly after testing.

Can I use bleach on a marble stain?

Diluted hydrogen peroxide can help with some organic stains on light marble, but bleach and acid cleaners can damage marble. Ask us first.

Is a stain the same as an etch?

No. A stain is darker because something soaked in. An etch is a dull spot where acid ate the surface. They need different treatments.

Will sealing stop stains?

A good impregnating sealer slows absorption and gives you time to wipe spills, but it does not make marble stain-proof.
